A J2EE Assessment Test evaluates candidates for:

  • Familiarity with J2EE architecture, including understanding the three-tier architecture of J2EE applications (client, business, and data tiers) and how these components interact to build scalable and reliable applications.
  • Proficiency in using Java Servlets, understanding the role of servlets in handling client requests and generating dynamic responses. Skills in creating, configuring, and deploying servlets in a J2EE environment.
  • Experience with JavaServer Pages (JSP), understanding how JSPs are used to generate dynamic web content by embedding Java code into HTML pages. Knowledge of custom tags, expression language (EL), and JSTL (Java Standard Tag Library).
  • Skills in building web applications using Java EE, including handling HTTP requests and responses, managing session states, and working with filters and listeners for request handling and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), understanding the types of EJBs (session beans, entity beans, and message-driven beans), their role in the business layer, and proficiency in implementing EJBs to handle business logic, transactions, and persistence.
  • Proficiency in Java Persistence API (JPA), using JPA for object-relational mapping (ORM) to manage database entities in a Java EE environment. Skills in writing JPQL (Java Persistence Query Language) and managing entity lifecycle, relationships, and transactions.
  • Skills in managing transactions using Java EE’s declarative and programmatic transaction management features. Proficiency in using JTA (Java Transaction API) for managing distributed transactions across multiple resources.
  • Understanding of dependency injection in Java EE, using CDI (Contexts and Dependency Injection) to manage bean lifecycles and inject dependencies into various components.
  • Proficiency in building RESTful and SOAP web services, using JAX-RS (Java API for RESTful Web Services) to create RESTful services and JAX-WS for SOAP-based web services. Knowledge of designing and implementing web services that can be consumed by other systems.
  • Experience with Java Messaging Service (JMS), using JMS to build message-driven applications, manage message queues, and handle asynchronous communication between distributed components.
  • Proficiency in using Java EE Security, including role-based access control (RBAC), implementing authentication and authorization using Java EE’s security features, and managing application security through declarative and programmatic techniques.

  • Proficiency in using logging frameworks, such as Log4j or SLF4J, for logging events, errors, and performance metrics in J2EE applications.
  • Knowledge of concurrency utilities, using EJB timer services or concurrency utilities for Java EE to manage tasks like scheduling jobs or handling concurrent processes.
